Gift giving is one of Stardew Valley's main friendship systems, but the easiest way to use it is not to memorize every preference. Build a small, repeatable gift plan around the villagers you actually care about.
Start with birthdays
Birthday gifts are especially valuable for friendship progress, so check the Calendar at the beginning of each season and reserve items for priority villagers in advance.
Choose practical gifts
A loved gift that is easy to source is more useful than a difficult item you rarely have. Pick one or two reliable options for each priority villager and keep a small reserve.
Use villager-specific pages
Preferences differ by character. Open the individual villager page before gifting when you are unsure rather than assuming a generally useful item is safe for everyone.
