Monk is a mobile martial class that rewards positioning, action efficiency and careful resource use. It can feel very different from heavier frontline classes because movement and attack rhythm are part of its defense.
Choose the combat role
- Mobile melee damage
- Priority-target pressure
- Control through positioning
- Hybrid utility depending on subclass
Mobility is part of the build
Use movement to reach important targets, escape bad trades and avoid wasting turns crossing the battlefield. A Monk that cannot reach the right enemy loses much of its advantage.
Resource planning
Do not spend class resources on every turn simply because they are available. Save stronger options for moments when they change the outcome of the encounter.
Defense without heavy armor
Survivability comes from the full setup: ability scores, movement, positioning, subclass tools and party support. Do not judge the class only by armor access.
Party fit
Monk works well when another party member can provide control or support while the Monk moves directly onto high-priority targets.
