Shadowheart is one of Baldur's Gate 3's Origin companions. By default she begins as a Cleric, giving her access to healing, buffs, defensive spells and divine utility.
Best role for Shadowheart
She is a natural choice when your party needs a flexible support character rather than a pure healer. Clerics can contribute before, during and after damage is taken, so her value is broader than simply restoring hit points.
When Shadowheart fits your party
- You need healing or defensive support.
- Your group lacks divine spell utility.
- You want buffs and control without giving up all offensive pressure.
- Your other companions are focused heavily on damage.
Build direction
Decide whether you want her to lean more toward support, frontline durability or spellcasting pressure. That choice should guide equipment, feats and prepared spells instead of trying to do every Cleric job equally.
Common mistake
Do not treat healing as the only useful Cleric action. Preventing damage, improving ally accuracy, controlling enemies or ending a fight faster can often be more valuable than repeatedly spending turns on recovery.
